I’ve strolled through
cemeteries around the world, like everyone who is deathly afraid of death and
dying (actually, which are we more afraid of —death or dying?) who wants to see
his fear's lair, to confirm that this place is calm, quiet, that it has been
made for people after all, for a rest…. A place for getting used to it as it
were. Isn’t it strange, Gaustine once said to me, it’s always other people who
are dying, but we ourselves never do.

You have some amazing cemeteries in London, there are nothing like them out side. The monuments are stunning
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, Brompton is pretty impressive, especially when the light is as wonderful as it was on this day.
DeleteBohemian cemetary in Chicago, has some impressive statues. There is a mother and child in front of the crematorium, a strange coincidence.
ReplyDeleteI've just checked it out - that is a very impressive bronze!
DeleteI just visited Brompton for the first time on the 20th! Lovely cemetery! It was my second of the 7! First was Highgate which is succcch a lovely garden cemetery!
ReplyDeleteBoth fantastic cemeteries but my favourite is, and always has been, Kensal Green. I hope you are planning to get round all 7? You must do Brookwood as well, that is also pretty spectacular.
